In a bizarre partnership that breaks traditional predictions, the game developer has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Disclosed

According to the formal release, "An unusual encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where whispers of banned practices and monstrous changes resonate through the shadows." The plot presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine group.

The questline focuses on "peculiar experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Transformations

The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a striking moment showing a character, probably the captive, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Content

Players who finish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

Third Free Story Content

This release also brings the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
